Woody Harrelson becomes Lyndon B. Johnson, John F. Kennedy’s Vice President and then President of the US in the first trailer for biographical drama LBJ.
“The story centers around the political upheaval that Vice President Johnson faced when he was thrust into the presidency at the hands of an assassin’s bullet in November 1963. With political battles on both sides of the aisle, Johnson struggles to heal a nation and secure his presidency by passing Kennedy’s historic Civil Rights Act.”
Makeup, a whole lot of it makes Woody Harrelson almost unrecognizable in LBJ, almost. You can still hear Woody, he’s not doing much there, not that he needs to. Currently the film has 64% on Rotten Tomatoes after 11 counted reviews, so maybe not a Best Picture contender at the Oscars next year. It might have a chance in makeup.
Rob Reiner (A Few Good Man, The Bucket List) directed LBJ and Joey Hartstone wrote it. Starring in the film are Woody Harrelson, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Richard Jenkins, Bill Pullman, Jeffrey Donovan, Michael Mosley and many others.
LBJ was first screened at the Toronto International Film Festival last year in September and since then has been making the rounds at various other festivals. In May the film finally found a US distributor and will open on November 3rd.
