Relativity Media are obviously overselling the movie slightly, but that could have been expected given the competition from Snow White and the Huntsman, and the potential for a big box office hit following the success of Alice in Wonderland.

Steven Spielberg is currently in post-production on his Lincoln biopic and the director confirmed a few weeks ago that his next movie will be the robots vs. humans sci-fi Robopocalypse.
Spielberg is a well known multitasker, so it’s no surprise to hear he’s already planning his 2013 schedule. There has been talk over recent months that he may take on the Moses biopic Gods and Kings for Warner Bros, and now it’s looking like a done deal.

January and February are usually filled with awards and low-budget movies, but we only have to wait until March before the big films return. This year we have John Carter, The Hunger Games, and Wrath of the Titans, and Warner Bros. has started promoting the latter early with new TV spots containing lots of new footage.

Update: Paramount emailed to say the US release date for The Adventures of Tintin on DVD and Blu-ray has not been announced yet. It will, however, be released in the UK on March 19th.

Last year Evangeline Lilly (Lost, Real Steel) joined the cast of The Hobbit as Woodland Elf Tauriel, a character not originally in J.R.R Tolkien’s book. Lilly said Peter Jackson and the team decided to add Tauriel to “round out the story” as an adaptation, and to add some much needed female characters (the only other female character is Galadriel played by Cate Blanchett).
In a new interview Evangeline Lilly said Tauriel will be more prominent in the second film, and the role has actually been expanded from when she originally read the scripts.
