Uwe Boll has made movies of games, such as BloodRayne and Alone in the Dark, so what about a movie adaptation one of the most played games ever made…World of Warcraft? MTV asked Uwe that very question:
But if you’re not going to make a faithful adaptation, why make an adaptation at all? Apparently, the folks over at Blizzard wonder the same thing, since they practically laughed Boll out of their offices when he approached them about making a World of Warcraft adaptation, the director confessed.
“I got in contact with Paul Sams of Blizzard, and he said, ‘We will not sell the movie rights, not to you…especially not to you,’” Boll revealed. “Because it’s such a big online game success, maybe a bad movie would destroy that ongoing income, what the company has with it.”
A bad movie! He called his hypothetical adaptation bad. Awesome.
Haha! I heard a while back that Blizzard were interested in turning WOW into a movie, however it seems they are not that desperate. They are thinking Lord of the Rings, and Uwe Boll is probably the total opposite of what they want…the complete opposite.
Nevermind Uwe, you still have people who are interested in seeing you make movies. Here is a Pro Boll petition with around 4500 signatures, and here is one with…err…9! Nine whole people!
So in answer to the post title, ‘Will Uwe Boll Be Directing A World Of Warcraft Movie?’.
Hell no.
