Will Ferrell and Amy Poehler play two parents who start an illegal casino in their basement to pay for their daughter’s college in the debut trailer for The House.
Sure, it’s not exactly a sensible plan, and of course things will end up escalating (as they always do in these sort of movies) to dangerous levels of stupid, but in all seriousness that’s certainly a way to probably make enough money to pay for college. See, this is why spending your kid’s college fund is a bad idea, unless you’re 100% sure he (or she) won’t make it that far. Jokes aside, it’s a good concept that should lead to plenty of funny moments. As always I’m hoping what they showed here is not the best The House has to offer, especially since not all jokes hit as well as they should have (at least they didn’t for me).
Andrew Jay Cohen, who makes his feature directorial debut here, directed The House and co-wrote it with Brendan O’Brien. Previous the duo penned both Neighbors films and Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates, so a pretty mixed bag. Starring in the comedy are Will Ferrell, Amy Poehler, Jason Mantzoukas and many others.
The House opens June 30th, same date as Despicable Me 3.
