The Hollywood Reporter has broken some very unexpected and cool casting news. The hilarious Will Arnett has joined the upcoming reboot of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which is to be directed by Jonathan Liebesman. There is no official word on what role Arnett would play just yet.
The film will also star Megan Fox as reporter April O’Neill with Alan Ritchson, Pete Ploszek, Jeremy Howard and Noel Fisher as the turtles themselves. Important characters still not cast include; the turtle’s master Splinter (a giant rat), their arch nemesis Shredder, and their ally Casey Jones, however it’s been reported that Arnett will not play Jones. Of course he could always end up playing a more minor or new character.
While there was a lot of negative buzz surrounding the reboot after some of producer Michael Bay’s early comments, this news is certainly a step in the right direction. The fact that Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol writers Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec are behind the script is also pretty encouraging. I for one am going to remain cautiously optimistic about this one.
Ninja Turtles has an announced release date of June 6th 2014.
