This summer’s upcoming comedy Neighbors just premiered at the SXSW festival in Austin where it received a very positive reception. While there are only 7 reviews posted on RottenTomatoes so far, every one of them is positive and the film currently sits at 100% fresh. This looks like your typical R-rated Seth Rogen comedy – so depending on your personal taste, you’re either in or out. Count me in!
In the film, “A couple with a newborn baby face unexpected difficulties after they are forced to live next to a fraternity house.” Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne play the newly married couple, while Zac Efron plays the president of the frat.
Here’s a funny clip in which the new neighbors meet for the first time:
Seth Rogen’s been on a hot streak lately, with last summer’s This is the End being both a critical and commercial success (as well as my personal favorite comedy of 2013). After Neighbors, he has The Interview coming up where he co-stars once again with James Franco. In that film, due out on October 10th, the host of a talk show (Franco) and his producer (Rogen), get an interview with Kim Jong-Un – and then are asked by the CIA to kill him.
Rogen is also currently working on an animated film called Sausage Party, which he says is the first ever R-rated computer animated film, like something along the lines of a Pixar movie… but with dick jokes.
Neighbors hits theaters on May 9th.
