UK cinemas getting all 3D

leicester square odeon 500x246According to Variety UK cinema chain Cineworld have announced that by April, the company intend to have a total of 148 digital screens fitted and operational, providing one in five screens with digital capability. This improves the chances that UK citizens will be able to see Avatar, Monsters vs. Aliens and the other 11 3D films coming out this year as the film makers intended.

This comes after Europes leading cinema chain Odeon announced they plan on digitizing 111 of its 200 cinemas in Europe. Odeon claims the changes will leave 70% of its European consumer base within half an hour’s drive of a digital screen at one of its cinemas.
