Another Great Australia Trailer

I’m not really into that romantic mumbo jumbo, however I am actually quite looking forward to Baz Luhrmann Australia. The previous trailers and imagery we have seen have been quite something, but this latest trailer has confirmed that I will be seeing this when it is released. The trailer starts off casually, exploring the predictable relationship between Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman, and then BAM! The trailer switches. The epic music kicks in and then it gets exciting.

Watch it below!

Australia Moved Back

20th Century Fox have announced they are pushing the release of Baz Luhrmann’s Australia from November 14th, back to November 26th. The film stars Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman and is a romantic epic set in northern Australia before World War II.

The move is likely to be another ripple effect from the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince shift from November 21st to next summer. Variety also say it will give Baz Luhrmann a bit of extra time to get the film finished.

The film will now go head to head with Transporter 3, Four Christmases, The Road, Bolt and The Time Traveler’s Wife.

Australia Teaser Posters

MovieCityNews got the first set of posters for Baz Luhrmann’s Australia starring Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman. We have seen the same images before, however they have now been converted into teaser poster form.

The filming for this movie took a few days less than that of Titanic, which was 20 days short of 6 months. Fox is gearing up a major campaign for this film, which will likely have the full power of the studio behind it.

Australia will be released on November 14th in the US.

Hugh Jackman Talks Gambit And Deadpool

Hugh Jackman recently presented the first look of X-Men Origins: Wolverine at Comic Con a few days ago, and now he has spoke to Splashpage about the new mutants that will be making an appearance.

On Taylor Kitsch as Gambit:

“I can say it. He’s sexy, right? He’s a little bit like a junior Wolverine in a way. He’s a little bit of a wise guy. He’s an outsider. He’s got some issues himself. He’s mischievous. He’s cheeky. He’s a bit of a badass. We have a really great fight sequence. Physically that guy is an animal. He was chucking himself around on the concrete. He has that passion that I remember having when I first did Wolverine. There was no way a stunt double was doing anything for him.”

On Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool:

“We were so thrilled to get Ryan. He’s the greatest guy. Incredibly funny. He plays Deadpool, the merc with a mouth. Not an easy guy to play. He’s always jabbering. He’s always going. Physically he’s in unbelievable shape and yet he’s also got that comedic ability. There are only a handful of actors that can do that.”

He also said he was game for an Avengers cameo for when Marvel get round to making it.

Wolverine Comic Con Footage Stills

A member of the SHH forums got some blurry stills of X-Men Origins: Wolverine from the footage that was shown at Comic Con. The images show Hugh Jackman as Wolverine and Liev Schreiber as Sabretooth.

You can see more stills featuring our first look at Blob, Emma Frost, Gambit and Deadpool by clicking here.

Wolverine Trailer Shown At Comic Con!

Update: Footage can be seen here

Movie geeks and fans who had the chance to go to Comic Con today got a surprise at the end of 20th Century Fox’s presentation, Hugh Jackman! Apparently he had just finished filming and flew over from Australia to show a trailer. It was not complete and the scenes needed more work in post-production, however here is a description:

1:11PM - Full trailer! Scenes with Gambit throwing cards. Stryker comes and asks to put together a “special team” of superheroes. Shows the relationship with Wolverine and Sabertooth together and the development of the team and the adamantium program that Strkyer puts together. Really AWESOME footage! Looks incredible - some good fight scenes, but it still needs a lot of polishing. It almost looked too glossy and too colorful, but this is very early footage. Either way it looked awesome.

Confirmed team members: Blob, Deadpool, Gambit, Wolverine, Sabretooth, and Emma Frost. Lots of action scenes including a moment where Wolverine jumps from a truck to a helicopter and grabs on and attacks it. Younger cast, but very flashy and colorful and great scenes of action. A lot of cool scenes where Wolverine was fighting in the adamantium lab. Fight scenes of Wolverine and Sabretooth where he shoves his claws into Sabretooth’s chest. All-in-all it looked amazing - and I’m not the only one who thought so!

I think the biggest surprise there is that Emma Frost will be in the movie. If Bryan Singer stayed on to direct X-Men 3 he was apparently going to use the character, however that didn’t happen so it seems they have put her in X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

From Wikipedia:

Emma Frost has displayed the telepathic standards of broadcasting and receiving thoughts, mind control, altering perceptions and memories, offensive blasts of psionic energy…

…Frost developed a secondary mutation: the ability to transform herself into a perfectly smooth, flexible, translucent diamond-like substance.

No word on when the official teaser trailer will be released online. I’d give it a month or two for them to get the money shots finished!

New Wolverine Pic!

A new image of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine has appeared online. It is believed to have come from the upcoming issue of Empire magazine, which also includes interviews with Jackman himself and director Gavin Hood.

25 New Stars In Hollywood

There are 25 people (or, groups of people, depending on how you look at it!) set to receive their star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame next year.  Each year, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce’s Walk of Fame Committee chose the recipients, who are then ratified by the board of directors.

The new recipients are:

Hugh Jackman, Ben Kingsley, The Village People and Tinkerbell, along with Felicity Huffman, William H. Macy, Cameron Diaz, Robert Downey Jr., Tim Burton, Leslie Caron, Charles Durning, Ralph Fiennes, William Petersen, Kyra Sedgwick, John Stamos, Mark Burnett, Chuck Lorre, Kenny “Baby Face” Edmonds, Dave Koz, The Miracles, Doug Morris, Rush, Shakira, KFI radio personality Bill Handel and KCRW host Harry Shearer, who also provides voices for characters on “The Simpsons.”

Congrats to everyone!

Australia Teaser Trailer

The teaser trailer for Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman’s Australia is now online. After watching it I thought it looked good, but not as good as the featurette’s we have been getting. Apparently they were only a few days short of Titanic’s filming length, so no doubt they will have tonnes of footage to show us in future trailers. More amazing scenery please Mr. Baz Luhrmann!

Hugh Jackman Says He Would Play Wolverine Another Ten or Eleven Times!

WolverineI wouldn’t really call myself a Wolverine fan, but then again I don’t participially hate him. The character is overused, and overshadows some of the other interesting characters in the X-Men world (see the recent X-Men, or should I say Wolverine, trilogy). Despite this, I am looking forward to X-Men Origins: Wolverine because A) It has X-Men in the title and B) What we have seen so far is looking good.

Jackman has recently been on a publicity spree promoting his new movie, Deception. This obviously brought up Wolverine questions, as he still has the facial hair due to ongoing filming in Australia. MTV asked him a few questions, and he answered with some rather interesting stuff. He talks about the tone of the film, saying it is similar to that of Batman Begins. He also talks about further Wolverine movies. Read it below!

“It feels different,” Hugh Jackman told us recently about “X-Men Origins: Wolverine,” which he’s currently shooting with eyes towards a May 2009 release. “But I don’t think its going be night and day.”

After being the breakout character in three blockbuster mutant flicks, Logan will try and set a spin-off blueprint that could eventually yield a “Magneto” movie and more. “We are dealing with a character who is probably one of the darker comic book characters ever created,” Jackman said of the flick, which co-stars Liev Schreiber, Dominic Monaghan and Ryan Reynolds. “The movie has a lot of fun elements, but there are layers of pain and darkness to this character.”

“Tonally, I would put it more in the ‘Batman Begins’ sort of realm,” he said, distancing the flick from past “X-Men” movies. “That’s sort of where we’re headed.”

And if Jackman has his way, “Origins” won’t be the last time we see him wielding adamantium claws. “There are two conditions for me doing any more: One is will anybody want to see it, and the second is: Will I still have the passion for it?” he explained. “I really wanted to do this spin-off movie, because I felt we hadn’t truly found who this character was.”

“Right now,” Jackman added, fueling hope for the fanboys, “I feel like I could do another ten or eleven.”

The chances of us getting a Wolverine 11: He Still Hasn’t A Damn Clue Who He Is is unlikely. However, it does suggest that if X-Men Origins: Wolverine does well at the box office, we will get more. Personally, I think getting four movies focusing on Wolverine is more than enough, a whole new trilogy will just get boring, unless of course, Origins is amazing. We’ll have to wait until May 2009 to find out!
