Despite middling reviews by critics and only modest box office returns so far, Deadline reports that Universal is “making all the moves that indicate another chapter is in the offing” for Snow White & The Huntsman. More after the jump.
Screenwriter David Koepp (Jurassic Park, Spider-Man, the upcoming Premium Rush) has been brought on to write, and without the competing Mirror, Mirror to battle through production with, Universal should have a lot more time to craft a script and improve on the flaws of the first one. They’re in talks with director Rupert Sanders to come back after his directorial debut, and since his deal the first time involved a lower rate for a first-time director, it’s expected that he’ll make more now that he’s “in demand” post-SWATH. (I think “in demand” may be blowing it a bit out of proportion, but whatever.)
Stars Kristen Stewart and Chris Hemsworth are signed on for two sequels, but it’s doubtful Charlize Theron will be back after the events of the first movie. Who knows, though – she does have evil powers, so we’ll see what happens if this movie actually ends up making it through the development stages.
