With Knight and Day under-performing at the box office recently there was talk of Paramount scrapping Mission Impossible 4, or possibly bringing in a younger agent so less focus would be on Tom Cruise. While Paramount has yet to give the film the greenlight director Brad Bird (Ratatouille) has been reading actors this week according to Heat Vision, and Simon Pegg is in talks to reprise his role of lab geek Benji Dunn.
Mission Impossible 4 is being produced by J.J Abrams, who not only directed the third installment but also directed Pegg in the Star Trek reboot. With Star Trek 2 expected to begin filming early next year to seems J.J and Pegg will be seeing a lot of each other over the upcoming months.
Filming on Mission Impossible 4 is planned for September, with a December 2011 release date set.
