The new Seth Rogen comedy Neighbors (formerly known as Townies) doesn’t open until next summer, but MTV has released a first look at the film in the form of a red band trailer. A TV spot also premiered last night during The Comedy Central Roast of James Franco in which Rogen served as the roast master.
Although Judd Apatow isn’t producing the film, the entire creative team is made up of his disciples. Nicholas Stoller (Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Get Him to the Greek) directs, the screenplay is written by Andrew J. Cohen and Brendan O’Brien (producers of The 40 Year-Old Virgin & Funny People), while Rogen and his writing partner Evan Goldberg are executive producing. The cast includes Rogen, Zac Efron, Rose Byrne, Dave Franco, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Jake Johnson, and Lisa Kudrow.
This one looks as raunchy and raucous as Rogen’s usual fare. If a baby chewing on a used condom sounds up your alley, check out the trailer:
Here’s the TV spot with some additional footage:
Centers on a young couple (Rogen, Rose Byrne) who have just had their first child and are looking to start living a nice quiet life in the suburbs. This plan is interrupted, however, when a frat house from the local university moves in next door. While the couple initially try to recapture their youth and hang with the college kids, eventually the relationship between the two houses completely deteriorates and they find themselves in all-out war.
Universal Pictures will release Neighbors on May 9th, 2014.
And in case you missed the funniest movie of the year (IMHO), Sony is re-releasing Rogen’s This is the End on Friday, presumably to push the film (which currently sits at $96.7 million) passed the $100 million milestone.
