Ridley Scott has been working on his 3D alien prequels for a few years now. In April he stated that he’s just trying to get the first one sorted out at the moment, rather than work on both back-to-back, and they are looking towards getting a script ready for shooting having gone though around four drafts so far. Lost co-creator Damon Lindoff is currently working on that.
In a recent interview reflecting on his career with The Independent Scott spoke briefly about the films, and we also have word that the director may be meeting with an actress who goes by the name of Gemma Arterton for a role.
“The film will be really tough, really nasty. It’s the dark side of the moon. We are talking about gods and engineers. Engineers of space. And were the aliens designed as a form of biological warfare? Or biology that would go in and clean up a planet?”
In Ridley Scott’s original Alien, the cast came across the remains of a giant being with a hole in its chest (pictured above). Clearly these giants had come into contact with the xenomorphs beforehand, and fallen victim to their chest-bursting tendencies. The prequel will tell the story of these “Space Jockeys,” and their encounter with the aliens.

The Sunday Times (via The Playlist) interviewed Gemma Arterton (Clash of the Titans, Prince of Persia) and she revealed:
“Ridley Scott saw ‘Alice Creed’ and loved it. He wants me to meet for Aliens: The Remake, or something.”
Arterton has obviously not been keeping up to date with her sci-fi, but Scott will probably give her the run-down when/if they meet. Could Gemma Arterton be the next Sigourney Weaver/Ripley?
