Bryan Singer has once again taken to Twitter in order to announce the latest casting news for X-Men: Days of Future Past. The latest being Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister in TV’s Game of Thrones), though it’s not yet certain what character he will be portraying.
Dinklage may play the character known as Puck, an original member of the Canadian-based superhero team, Alpha Flight. Puck is 3’6″ feet tall and his abilities include superhuman strength, agility and advanced reflexes.
Another possibility is Gateway, who is 4’6″ in the comics and creates wormholes which allow travel through space, time and dimensions. This character would certainly help with the time travel aspect of the film.
The Days of Future Past comic storyline alternates between present day, in which the X-Men fight the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, and a future timeline caused by the X-Men’s failure to prevent the Brotherhood from assassinating Senator Robert Kelly. In this future universe, Sentinels rule the United States, and mutants live in internment camps.
James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, and Nicholas Hoult are all set to reprise their roles, along with Hugh Jackman, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, Ellen Page, Anna Paquin, and Shawn Ashmore. Filming will begin in April for a July 2014 release.
