Paranormal & Saw alliance

by Jack on February 6, 2010 · View Comments

saw movie Oren Peli, Steven Schneider, and Jason Blum, the guys behind Paranormal Activity, are set to start work on Insidious, collaborating with James Wan and Leigh Wannell (the original Saw). This will be the first in a five-picture deal between Alliance Films and the Paranormal team, consisting of low-budget (and probably all horror) pictures.

Little is known about Insidious itself, save for a snippet of information from Wan:

“Leigh wrote a fantastic script that took a haunted house movie with all the usual conventions and twisted it on its head.”

That’s enough to get me interested. The first Saw was absolutely amazing; incredibly tense, and with some fantastic plot twists (one in particular being my favourite twist in cinema, ever). Combining that with Paranormal’s atmosphere, ideas, and general scariness has some serious potential.

Insidious will start filming this spring; Wan directing from Wannell’s screenplay.

Variety has more details in their original scoop.

Yeah the first Saw is pretty good, especially the twist at the ending.
