Despite being 3 years younger than Justin Timberlake, Olivia Wilde will be playing his mother in a sci-fi drama directed by Andrew Niccol (previously titled I’m.mortal). The news comes from The Wrap, who points out that this will reunite Wilde with her Alpha Dog co-stars Timerlake and Amanda Seyfried.
In the not-too-distant future the aging gene has been switched off. To avoid overpopulation, time has become the currency and the way people pay for luxuries and necessities. The rich can live forever, while the rest try to negotiate for their immortality. A poor young man who comes into a fortune of time, though too late to help his mother from dying, ends up on the run from a corrupt police force known as ‘time keepers’.
It looks like Wilde’s role will be a small yet important one. Justin Timberlake will play Will, the poor man, with Amanda Seyfried playing an heiress who he kidnaps while on the run. Cillian Murphy will be the villain who is an officer from the Timekeepers organization who is described as “precise as the time he keeps.”
Most people know Olivia Wilde from her role in House, but she will become a lot more popular after Tron Legacy in December and Cowboys and Aliens next July with Daniel Craig.
