Olivia Wilde has become something of a geek goddess in recent years with appearances in TRON: Legacy and Cowboys & Aliens, and now it appears that the actress is ready to take on a new type of movie: a comedy. She’ll star opposite Jason Sudeikis in Relanxious, in which the two will play lovers with distinct phobias. Sound weird? It is. More on the plot and other cast members after the jump.
Deadline has the details, which describe Wilde’s character as a woman ridden with anxiety who falls for an agoraphobe played by Sudeikis. Since they both have these issues, they’re stuck just talking about dates they would go on if they didn’t have their phobias. Things heat up and they have to choose whether or not to face their fears in order to pursue a real-life relationship. Brie Larson (21 Jump Street, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World) and Fred Armisen (“Saturday Night Live,” Anchorman) are joining in supporting roles as Wilde’s sister and Sudeikis’ best friend, respectively.
Writer Christopher Storer will make his directorial debut on this one. Like I said, I think it sounds pretty bizarre, but I like the cast, so we’ll see how strong the material ends up being. After all, most of the time a movie is only as good as its script.
