In this trailer we finally get a good look at Blade Runner 2049 and visually it’s nothing short of outstanding, just five more months of waiting.
“Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K, unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard, a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.”
I swear this movie is worth the ticket price just for the visuals, everything else (and there will be a lot everything else) is a bonus. As a big fan of the original (Director’s Cut and The Final Cut, take your pick, they each have pros and cons, although I’m more partial to the Director’s Cut) I can accept that I’m absolutely biased, but even for someone that has never seen Blade Runner and enjoys sci-fi, I think this will be quite the experience. And it helps that they got a fantastic team behind this sequel, because why the hell would you even attempt to make another one 35 years later unless you’re absolutely sure it will be great, worthy of its legacy.
Blade Runner 2049 was directed by Denis Villenuve with a screenplay by Hampton Fancher (Blade Runner) and Michael Green (Logan), based on characters from the novel ‘Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?‘ by Philip K. Dick. Starring in the sequel are Harrison Ford, Ryan Gosling, Ana de Armas, Jared Leto, Robin Wright, Dave Bautista, Mackenzie Davis and more.
Blade Runner 2049 opens October 6th in the US and around the world.
