According to THR Jason Clarke has been cast in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Clarke has previously appeared in films such as Public Enemies and Lawless, and will be seen in The Great Gatsby later this year. He recently drew attention for his role as a CIA agent in Zero Dark Thirty.
Plot details have been kept under-wraps so far, but the story for the sequel will apparently take place 15 years after the events of Rise of the Planet of the Apes. THR say one focus is on a group of human scientists who are struggling to survive alone in San Francisco, and another aspect of the story follows the struggle of intelligent ape Caesar, played by a returning Andy Serkis, who tries to maintain dominance over his kingdom.
Matt Reeves (Cloverfield) is directing, and filming will begin later this year for a May 2014 release. Last year James Franco said he was set to have a small role in the sequel, but when director Rupert Wyatt left the film the script changed and he’s unlikely to appear now. A cameo would be cool, but it’s not needed.
