Asa

Rounding out what I think are all of the lead roles in Martin Scorsese’s upcoming The Invention of Hugo Cabret, Deadline reports that Asa Butterfield and Chloe Moretz have been cast in the film. This is further to Sacha Baron Cohen and Ben Kingsley entering talks to star in the film yesterday.

Butterfield, who has previously starred in The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas, will portray the title character of the film – Hugo Cabret himself. Seems like a good choice, based on looks. I don’t really know what else to say – we haven’t seen a huge display of the young man’s acting abilities as of yet.

Moretz is currently making a name for herself in Hollywood – she plays Hit Girl in the raved-about Kick-Ass, and will be playing the vampire in Matt Reeves’s (Cloverfield) upcoming Let Me In, American remake of the fantastic Let the Right One In (I won’t start ranting about how unnecessary remaking that film is). In Hugo Cabret, Moretz will take the female lead; the role of Isabelle, a young girl who befriends Hugo.

I think that’s all of the main characters with actors behind them now. Is it? Whatever the case, I’m still really looking forward to this.

I love the book! It is an exquisite pairing of art and literature. Such a stimulating read! Can't say enough good about it! I trust Scorsese to translate the magic.
