Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince Moved To July 2009

by Liam on August 15, 2008 · Comments

Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince has been moved by Warner Bros from November 21st 2008, back to July 17th 2009. The reasons given are that they feel the movie will reach a wider audience with a Summer release date, and that the writers strike left a big gap in the Summer calendar that they need to fill. However, the move does mean Potter faces more competition from movies such as Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, 2012, and Land of the Lost. Although I get the feeling they should be more worried than Potter.

As a result of the move by Warner Bros, Disney have decided to move Bolt up a week into the November 21st date that was left empty by Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

i call bull**** on this! theyre not pushing it back b/c of "the writer's strike,"...y would they do that if the film is finished?

they just assume that the film wont be able 2 compete w/ Twilight!

i think we should refuse to see it if we have 2 wait that long! And movie 5 was a total let down! If they dnt think it can compete, then y waste my money on going 2 c it at all? ill just wait and download it if thats how its gonna be!

As a Harry Potter fanatic, I will not boycott the Harry Potter films, there is no way I could do that, but if Warner Brothers does not come through and release the film when they first agreed to, I will boycott all other Warner Brothers films, and anything connected to Warner Brothers. I think if all of the Harry Potter fans agreed to that, they would have to change their plans, and release the film as promised. Warner Brothers knows that Harry Potter fans will go to the movie WHENEVER they release it, so they think they hold all of the cards, but I don’t think they realize that if everything else was boycotted, they would stand to lose a substantial amount of dollars!!
