Update: The first footage from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 is set to air during ABC Family’s Harry Potter marathon from March 17-20th.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 has been out for a month now and to date has taken $825 million at the worldwide box office. As usual, both Warner Bros. and Potter fans are happy, but as we enter 2011 both will start focusing their attention onto Part 2.
We’ve already been getting trailers for other summer blockbusters such as Pirates of the Caribbean 4, Transformers 3 and Green Lantern, so when can we expect Warner Bros. to release a trailer for Part 2?
Well according to a MuggleNet tipster we could be seeing our first official look at Part 2 in January, specifically the 24th. Warner Bros. released the first trailer for Part 1 (which contained bits of Part 2) 5 months before it’s release, so we can probably expect a similar marketing strategy here.
We still have a while to go before Part 2‘s July release, so if we get a trailer soon it will probably just be a teaser. I am still expecting epic things though as director David Yates described Part 2 as a “big opera, a great big epic, with huge battles.” As well as the battles, i’m looking forward to seeing Hogwarts again and more of the secondary characters which we didn’t see much of in Part 1. Hopefully we get a glimpse at Snape and Professor McGonagall’s duel, along with other cool moments during the Battle of Hogwarts.
Here’s the first teaser we got in June with clips from Part 2 to keep people occupied until the next trailer:
