Back in August after G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra opened to around $100 million (it grossed $300 million in total worlwide) Paramount vice chairman, Rob Moore, confirmed that a sequel would soon go into development. Now according to Collider a writer has been hired, however they were unable to confirm who that writer is. I don’t really think it matters who the writer is really. G.I. Joe was a fun dumb action flick, and Paramount will probably be going down the same route with the sequel.
Director Stephen Sommers is not signed on for the sequel, however he mentioned in a interview last year that he would make either Tarzan or G.I. Joe 2 next, depending on which was ready first. The cast are all signed up for multiple films, so getting them to return won’t be difficult.
Do you want a G.I Joe sequel? If so, what would you like to see from it? Should Stephen Sommers return to direct, or should they get someone else to make it?
