Warner Bros. has released the first teaser poster ahead of the release of the first trailer for Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug this coming Tuesday, June 11th at 10 AM PST. It will also be attached to theatrical screenings of Man Of Steel next weekend.
The one-sheet does a nice job of teasing the danger that lies ahead on Bilbo Baggins’ (Martin Freeman) journey, while standing on the bank of the Celduin River. A steep Lonely Mountain slope rises imposingly above the secret entrance to the dragon Smaug’s cave.
As you might know, Bilbo is swept into an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor, which was long ago conquered by the dragon Smaug, one of the last great dragons of Middle-earth who will undoubtedly be one of the deadliest threats in this entire trilogy.
The forthcoming second Hobbit movie also stars Ian McKellan, Evangeline Lilly, Luke Evans, Lee Pace, Stephen Fry, Orlando Bloom, Richard Armitage, and Benedict Cumberbatch.
The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug will arrive in theaters in 3D and 48FPS on December 13th.
