Jon Favreau made some comments over the week that perked up a lot of ears. Apparently, he told MTV some mighty interesting things about the Avengers movie, which, up until now, we haven’t heard much on.
…in the case of Marvel they’re pretty clear on wanting to do it with the actors who’ve established the roles or to not do it at all. That’s what they’ve said to me,” he continued. “I think it’s a good idea if you use the characters established in the other franchises that then come together for an event. I don’t think they would do it like they’re doing ‘Justice League’ where it’s a whole different set of actors and a whole different take on the world.
If you’re interested, you can read the whole article over at MTV Movie Blog, however, that’s the gist of it.
So does this mean that the talented Mr. Favreau is going to be taking on the Avengers? Probably not. It would probably be good if he did do it, but it’s just him talking for now.
However, it’s nice to see that Marvel is keeping things together better than DC. It would be really awesome to see the actor’s we’ve already seen established in other movies come together to reprise their roles in the Avengers. It’s a huge step up from the cluster fuck that is the Justice League casting, which, at the moment, no one has any clue what the hell is going on. This type of casting choice would really tie the world of the Marvel movies together, much like the comics are. Personally, I think that’s a fantastic idea.
However, we still have Hulk, Thor, and any other Marvel properties in development right now to get through before the Avengers movie is on the plate. Here’s hoping for some good news in 2010!
