Exactly one year ago 20th Century Fox hired Kyle Ward (upcoming Bruce Willis movie Kane & Lynch) to write the script for Hitman 2, and now Deadline are reporting that Spanish director Daniel Benmayor has been hired to direct.
I don’t recall there being a big demand for a sequel to the 2007 film, but it made $100 million worldwide (not including DVD sales) which was a nice amount considering it was made for around $30 million. No word on whether Timothy Olyphant will return as Agent 47, although he’s contracted to do another film so it’s a possibility.
Hitman 2 will be Daniel Benmayor’s first big Hollywood film. He has directed commercials for Sony PlayStation, Renault, Mercedes, Heineken and Samsung, and his feature debut was action film Paintball, in which adrenaline junkies get dropped in a dense forest for a paintball match, and find that someone is using real ammo.
