We heard last week that Marvel had offered the role to the actor, and now according to Variety Chris Evans has accepted and will be Captain America. The deal includes starring in at least 3 Captain America movies, as well as The Avengers which will be released in 2012.
Evans beat out guys such as John Krasinksi, Chace Crawford, Ryan Phillippe, Garrett Hedlund, Michael Cassidy, Patrick Flueger, Scott Porter and Wilson Blethel, and will be heading to London in a few months time where Captain America will begin filming under the direction of Joe Johnston.
Hugo Weaving has already signed up to play the villain, Red Skull, and Marvel has made offers to a number of British actresses such as Emily Blunt and Keira Knightley to play the female lead and love interest.
Captain America will be released on July 22nd 2011, two months after we see Chris Hemsworth wield the hammer in Thor.
How do you feel about this casting? Would you have preferred any of the other actors mentioned above? How do you feel now all the leads in The Avengers have been cast?
