Due to the whole MGM situation it’s been 4 years since we last saw James Bond on-screen. We’ll be seeing Daniel Craig return as 007 later this year in Skyfall, but it looks like the producers are trying to make up for the hiatus by planning the 24th movie already, with a 2014 release in mind.
According to Bond fan site Mi6 Sony’s President of Worldwide Distribution Rory Bruer announced the plans at CinemaCon in Las Vegas. Apart from a few exceptions we’ve usually seen a Bond movie every two years, so a 2014 release for the next film would make sense and suggest they are hoping to get back into a similar cycle again.
Apparently Daniel Craig’s original contract from when he agreed to play Bond involves Bond 24, but it’s said to be ‘optional’ so he could hang up his gun after three films. He could very well continue however, which I’m sure many would be happy with.
