Bryan Cranston and Elizabeth Olsen in talks to join Godzilla

gozilla-rebootGodzilla is slated to start shooting next month, and it looks like it’s leading man, Aaron Johnson, may be getting some company. According to The Hollywood Reporter Bryan Cranston and Elizabeth Olsen are in talks to sign on as well. Cranston’s part would be the step father of Johnson’s character and Olsen would play Johnson’s girlfriend.

Bryan Cranston is coming off a great year, it seemed that he was in just about everything last year; from Argo to Total Recall and Rock of Ages to John Carter and of course the television show Breaking Bad. Olsen of course is the younger (and much more talented) sister of the Olsen twins. So far she is best known for her roles in independent films like Silent House and Martha Marcy May Marlene, and will appear in Spike Lee’s Oldboy remake..

The film, which is being made by Legendary, will be directed by Gareth Edwards and the script was penned by Max Borenstein and Frank Darabont. The exact details of the movie are still being kept under wraps, but it’s expected to feature a number of monsters; there are certainly plenty in Godzilla’s canon to draw upon. Look for Godzilla in theaters on May 16th 2014.
