After (500) Days of Summer, Zooey Deschanel stepped out of the indie scene and into mainstream popularity with her FOX television show, “New Girl.” Now the actress is making her return to the big screen in About Time, a time travel dramedy written and directed by Love Actually director Richard Curtis.
Variety has the report, which says that Deschanel will co-star with Domhnall Gleeson (son of actor Brenden Gleeson), who played one of the Weasley brothers in the Harry Potter franchise. The story follows Tim (Gleeson), “a young man who comes from a family of time-travelers. When Tim learns of his unique gift from his father, he uses his newfound abilities to change situations for the better.” If her deal goes through, Deschanel will play his love interest, Mary.
This is the second time travel-related story I’ve written today: Colin Trevarrow’s Safety Not Guaranteed is another indie film that uses the science fiction premise, and that one is definitely worth checking out upon its release this summer. About Time is still in the early phases, but hopefully it can live up to the high quality films about time travel made recently (including Rian Johnson’s upcoming Looper).
