We’ve had Monsters vs. Aliens, Alien vs. Predator, and we’re getting Cowboys vs. Aliens in July. Now Michael Bay and his production company just purchased the rights to unleash Zombies Vs. Robots upon the movie world.
Zombies Vs. Robots, based on the comic of the same name, is set in a post-apocalyptic world overrun by zombies. Humanity has only one chance at recovery in the form of a team of robots who must protect and clone a lone surviving girl. They just need to do this amidst the endless hordes of zombies who have been driven rabid by their frustration at inedible bots and their lust to eat the one living brain left on the planet.
It sounds a bit like I Am Legend, but if Will Smith had his I, Robot friends for protection. And if Will Smith had ovaries.
Screenwriter JT Petty (The Burrowers) has used the comic as the basis for his spec script entitled Inherit the Earth, and the movie is set up at Sony. As things are in the early stages we probably won’t be seeing it on-screens for at least 3 years, but it’s something for producer Michael Bay to focus on post-Transformers 3.
