While on the rounds promoting The Losers, which will be released on April 23rd, Zoe Saldana spoke about returning to Pandora for Avatar 2. For Avatar Zoe spent months learning how to fight, move, speak, and ride flying beasts like a Na’vi so she’ll need to spend a few months refreshing herself before she can be ‘one with the people’ again.
Luckily for Zoe James Cameron won’t be rushing into production on the sequel anytime soon, so she has another year to two before the regime starts.
Here’s what she had to say to StarPulse:
“[James] already knows how I like to approach it. I need at least 6 to 7 months of training and stuff to get into Neytiri again and whatever’s going to happen is going to happen.
“It’s not something that I can just turn on and off. Everything is a learned skill. The same way it took me like 2 to 3 months to channel [my The Losers character] Aisha, you know Neytiri is going to take her time as well. I mean, there are people we are kind of incarnating. It takes a little bit of preparation.”
“The good thing that we all know about Jim is – it’s not so good sometimes because we sometimes have to wait like 10 years for it – but by the time he does come around, he gives you something that sort of changes your life or at least touches it in such a way. So I do know that Avatar 2 is going to be just as great as the first one because Jim’s the sh*t.”
Cameron recently said that even if he starts working on Avatar 2 tomorrow it won’t be released for another 3 years, so I guess the earliest we can expect to see the sequel is 2014/2015.
