Last year we got X-Men 3, the final movie in the trilogy, so where could FOX go from there? They have the rights to a highly profitable franchise, they might as well milk it like a cow. So instead of an X-Men 4 we are getting a Wolverine spin-off, expected to start filming in January, and a Magneto movie which has been affected by the writers strike so the status of it is unknown.
Now, I read some news today that made me shout noooooooooo inside of my head, for a few minutes, in fact it is still going. I hope this news is untrue and will believe it to be until I hear otherwise. According to these guys FOX are planning on making several Direct to DVD spin-off’s of fan favourite characters. Direct to DVD usually means low budget and in most cases crappy. Now this news could be backed up as Joe Carnahan has posted an image of Juggernaut on his personal blog, causing speculation. Could he be directing a Juggernaut spin-off? Will Vinnie Jones be appearing in his next film? Will the title of his next film be called ‘Juggernaut’? Could Juggernaut be a metorphor as his next movie will ‘big’? Could it…
…okay, I’ll carry on the speculation in my head.
I suppose a Mystique detective type sequel would be cool, or even a Gambit movie. But personally I’d prefer them to be feature films, rather than Direct to DVD crapfests. The X-Men deserve better.
