X-Men Origins: Wolverine leaked online

[This is NOT an April Fool's post]

Somewhere, somehow X-Men Origins: Wolverine has been leaked online. I will not link to it and personally I do not recommend you go search for it. From what I have read the leak is good quality but the effects are not 100% complete. 20th Century Fox recently sent a notice to Screenrant to remove some images, so they will no doubt go bats*hit over this. While X-Men Origins: Wolverine is my #1 anticipated movie I want to see it on the big screen, not unfinished on my laptop. It’s also not fair on the film makers and everyone involved (regardless of what you think about Fox as a studio).

Update 1: Just spoken to a Fox client. They are going to inform Fox of the leak, if they do not know about it already.

Update 2: Fox know of leak. Operation ‘take down month early leak of our biggest movie this summer’ commencing.

Update 3: From Variety:

Fox execs first heard about the breach at about 7 p.m. last night and began assessing the damage. A Fox source said the leaked version is an early rough cut, with temporary sound and music and a darker appearance than the finished footage.

Fox said they will pursue the breach as aggressively as possible with the help of the MPAA, FBI and local law enforcement.

The studio will be releasing a statement shortly.

Update 4: From HitFlix:

The following statement was sent to us by 20th Century Fox in response to yesterday’s story:

“Last night, a stolen, incomplete and early version of X-Men Origins: Wolverine was posted illegally on websites. It was without many effects and had missing scenes and temporary sound and music. We immediately contacted the appropriate legal authorities and had it removed. We forensically mark our content so we can identify sources that make it available or download it. The source of the initial leak and any subsequent postings will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law – the courts have handed down significant criminal sentences for such acts and the last person who committed such a crime is still in jail. The FBI and the MPAA also are actively investigating this crime. We are encouraged by the support of fansites condemning piracy and this illegal posting and pointing out that such theft undermines the enormous efforts of the filmmakers and actors, and above all, hurts the fans of the film.”

I just read someones comment about, who saw the "leaked" version.
They said, you can see the green screen, wire cables, no music.
    That is just sad people.
I'm gonna watch this on the theater, leaked or not.
  • I have no pity for Fox on this.
  • After what Fox did to the Watchmen, serves em right!

I'm gonna support them though, cinema all the way
  • perhaps I worded that wrong. I'm not gonna support them, just I am gonna see it in the cinema, there's nothing like the experience of watching a new movie in the cinema.

Last time i heard of a leaked movie, I downloaded it and it was Skat Porn.... wouldn't recommend that, people!

Ok, let me better inform people on this so they don't feel to sorry for Fox. This is a very VERY early workprint, probably September last year. That means before the January scenes were added and before almost any effects were finished. The music is there (surprisingly) but like I said before, almost no VFX are finished and at least 14 minutes are missing (the scenes filmed in January).

So yeah, while the theater release won't be radically different, it will still be different enough to warrant at least a movie ticket.

So recap, VERY old print, missing footage, almost no finished VFX. Don't cry to much Fox, people will still go see it if they have at least half a brain, I know I will and I know I'll hype it even more now that I've seen the workprint and I know just how awesome it will be.

Omg, Sooooooo not worth it! Don't download this it will ruin the movie for you. Although after watching it I feel like I've learned a bit about how much special effects are put into movies :P Large parts are unwatchable unless you don't mind that the entire scene looks likes it's been modelled from digital cardboard.

I now feel compelled to tell everyone I know to NOT download it and to go see it.

FOX probably leaked it themselves. Nothing like a strategic leak to get millions of dollars of free publicity for the movie launch.

eventhough you can still see wires and green backgrounds.
