The last thing we heard abut the planned World of Warcraft movie was that Blizzard had told Uwe Boll that they would never sell the rights to him. Although it wasn’t really news, it gave us an indication that they were taking it seriously. Last year designers of the game were apparently collaborating with Legendary Pictures on the story and script, and they were looking for someone of Zack Snyder calibre to direct.
However, Warcraft fans shouldn’t expect the film to be out next year, as previously hinted. From ShackNews:
Blizzard and Legendary Pictures’ feature film adaptation of the Warcraft franchise isn’t likely to arrive next year, as was once announced, though a draft of the script is done.
“I don’t know about the 2009 date, but it is still something we are very excited about,” Blizzard president Mike Morhaime responded when asked about the film.
“We do have a draft of a script, it isn’t final,” he added. “I think we still need to do a lot of work.”
I think they should take their time. The last thing they need is 9 million+ pissed off gamers. They are bad enough as it is.
