World War Z trailer: Brad Pitt vs. zombie pyramids

Paramount has released the first official trailer for Marc Forster’s World War Z. The story, based on the novel by Max Brooks, follows UN bureaucrat Gerard Lane (Brad Pitt) who is racing against time and fate, as he travels the world trying to stop the outbreak of a deadly Zombie pandemic.

Watch below:

The graphic novel followed Gerard Lane’s interviews which document a decade-long war against zombies from the view point of many different people of various nationalities, but it seems changes have been made to make Pitt’s character more involved in the action. In the book the zombies are slow, lumbering beings that cannot move quickly, but here they all seem to be active and mobile.

As well as Pitt, the movie stars Mireille Enos, Daniella Kertesz, James Badge Dale, Matthew Fox and David Morse, and will invade screens on June 21, 2013.

That…. had nothing to do with what I remember reading in the book. Though I have to admit I can’t wait to see it either way!

the book wasn’t a graphic novel.. and certainly wasn’t anything like this either. this just looks like a fairly standard big scale hollywood disaster movie, except for zombies that run and climb over eachother, which i do not remember from the book

Although it was not a major part of the book; remember the girl trapped in the tree? Part of her survival training was to jump away from the tree not to try to climb down it because the zombies would bunch up and climb over each other slowly coming up to get their quarry. I just don’t remember running zombies–it would completely negate a lot of how they fought back in the book.
