Wolverine reshoots = more Deadpool

deadpoolwolverineEarlier this week there was a big fuss over X-Men Origins: Wolverine reshoots/additional filming taking place in Vancouver. Most sites reported that they were ‘massive’ and that the film was in trouble. Hugh Jackman responded saying it was due to cast schedules. Now IESB have learned that one of the main reasons for the reshoots is to increase the role of Deadpool, played by Ryan Reynolds.

Thanks to IESB reader DPfan (I am assuming he didn’t think real hard about that handle – it means Deadpool fan right?) we’ve learned exclusively that more footage of the DEADPOOL character played by Ryan Reynolds has been added to the X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE film!

We are told Ryan Reynolds was busy a guy in Vancouver during the extra time the production spent there shooting some added footage for his Deadpool character! Apparently most of the footage shot included Reynolds and Wolverine himself, Hugh Jackman.

Fox want Deadpool to have a big impact as they have plans to make a spin-off with the character. Beefing up the role will no doubt help that cause.

  • This is great news. I'm convinced now that they will try to do the Deadpool solo film that was discussed a while back. And there is no better time to do it. Deadpool is currently appearing in his very own successful monthly comic series, he is featured in Hulk vs Wolverine (and done quite well) and the Wolverine film will expose the character to a broad audience and mainstream America. Couple that with Deadpools strong fanbase and Ryan Reynolds star power, and you've got enough to give a Deadpool film a shot.

They never would've cast Reynolds as Deadpool if they didn't want to do a Deadpool solo film. I would love to see it rated R, because the character is bloody and super violent, but I could go for a super hard PG-13 release if it got the character right. Reynolds is the perfect casting choice for Wade Wilson. And with Deadpools origin being addressed in the Wolverine film, they wouldn't have to waste time giving the origin story, and could jump right into the story. I for one vote for Ajax as the villain.

Don't worry about the whole face scarring and mask thing. They will do it, probably towards the end of the film.

i think ryan reynolds is going to make a great deadpool, i mean ryan is a bit of a smart ass sometimes and deadpool has a tendancy to say smart ass things...so i am looking forward to seeing the movie!!
  • There still wasn't enough IMO. The best laughs were from him. I really REALLY hope he get's his own movie!
