This is still the only all out scifi action movie where humans suddenly get confronted with aliens and start a battle for earth…Independence day is the only movie in my opinion who showed that and done it spectacular.I wouldnt mind a new even more spectecular one by todays cgi standars…I just want pure heroism war between those 2 races in most spectecular way!!
and no! district 9 or War of the worlds dont show that at all…and star wars is something different…i mean in modern time now…
gimme big battles between jets and ufos…between some mechas or walkers and tanks and apaches…street fights like a battle for new york or something with infantry…all that!
I want a movie like that

Independence Day was one of those great movies that should never get a sequel. Just like Armageddon and The 5th Element, there is no further story to be told. The humans won, and the entire alien civilization was destroyed in a xenocide.
I guess though, when there's an opportunity to make untold millions, it will be taken, so hopefully the story will hold up to the expectations, and not be stupid.
That being said, I don't think Will is needed per-say, but it would make it better.
