Earlier this week Warner Bros. signed Michael Goldenberg to write Green Lantern 2, which shows they are eager to get this potential new superhero franchise rolling. Ryan Reynolds will have no doubt signed a multiple picture deal which means he will have to be available when Warner Bros. are ready for the second outing. But where does this leave Deadpool?
Reynolds appeared in X-Men: Origins Wolverine with the intention of starring in his own Deadpool spin-off, and 20th Century Fox has been developing the film over the past year and we recently learned Robert Rodriguez is in early negotiations to direct. However, tweets by Deadpool creator Robert Liefeld suggests all is not well.

Warner Bros. just trying to protect their investment. They don’t want Ryan Reynolds playing Deadpool AND Green Lantern. Interesting 2 watch
Bottom line about Deadpool film is that if FOX doesn’t pull the DP film together with Ryan Reynolds between GL films-they should Hari Kari
Ryan Reynolds is the new Will Smith, if FOX can’t maximize this window of opportunity with this star, this character, that script=MASSV FAIL
After Reynolds signed for Green Lantern people were questioning whether the actor could play both superheroes, especially as they are from rival comic-book universes and rival studios. With the Lantern franchise first out of the blocks Warner Bros. may try to buy out Reynolds’ contract with Fox so that he doesn’t pop up wearing a Marvel costume.
Reynolds has been actively involved with Deadpool throughout pre-production and the scripting process, so he won’t drop out willingly. I guess Liefeld may be right and Fox may have to work around Reynolds and his Green Lantern endeavours.
