Will Alice in Wonderland overtake The Dark Knight?

alice in wonderland trailer1As I type Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland currently sits at $980 million worldwide, with $600+ million coming from overseas. It has overtaken all of the Harry Potter films and is just $20 million away from crossing the $1 billion mark, and overtaking The Dark Knight‘s $1,001,921,825 in the process.

Obviously 3D ticket prices had a huge impact on Wonderland‘s gross and if you take inflation into account it wouldn’t be in the top 10, but based on gross alone it may end up joining Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King in the $1 billion club.

With the final Harry Potter movies set to be released in 3D they will likely overtake Wonderland, and if Batman 3 gets made in 3D it might have a shot too, but until then i’m sure Disney will be eagerly watching the numbers to see how Alice in Wonderland fares over the next few weeks.

I don't see how it could pass The Dark Knight, because that was amazing haha! Must be all the kids watching it, I liked Alice in Wonderland but I wouldn't say its anywere near as good as Dark Knight, or the majority of the Harry Potter films for that matter haha
Ah well, such is life :)

I am amazed at how some bad movies make so much money… this is by far one of the most boring movies I have seen in the past few years.
Burton, while talented (big fish, sissorhands, Sweeney), has a tendency to butcher other stuff, like Planet of the Apes, Charlie and the Choco factory and now Alice in Wonderland. Which is a forgettable film, and in time people… o sorry I forgot what movie I was talking about…

Yeah, well this is some what difficult to answer. But i think this both Alice in Wonderland and The Dark Knight is best at their place. This both are very nice movie and i think we should to compare them.

In my opinion, Alice doesn't deserve its gross. It's an OK film but not even close to the quality of the Harry Potter films (especially the non-Chris Columbus ones). But I must say it deserved its humongous gross better than the crappy films we now know as Revenge of the Fallen and New Moon.
