Who Would You Cast In A Live Action Simpsons Movie?

Update: Hello to everyone from Stumbleupon and IMDB Front Page! Now this post is officially ‘popular’ I will do a Part 2 in the near future. Sign up to the RSS feed if you want more Simpsons goodness :)

Now, before anyone gets instantly offended by the title, I do not want a live action Simpsons movie to happen. The Simpsons are all about the characters, voices and yellowness. This is just for fun. I recently stumbled upon the live action Simpsons opening from a few years ago. I had seen it a few times before, but this viewing got me thinking. Who would I cast in a live action Simpsons movie?

Here is my list:

Paul Giamatti as Homer Simpson

homer.JPG

Lorraine Bracco as Marge Simpson

marge.JPG

Jacob Kogan as Bart Simpson

bart.JPG

AnnaSophia Robb as Lisa Simpson

lisa.JPG

Jeff Goldblum as Moe

moe.JPG

William H. Macy as Ned Flanders

Ian McDiarmid as Mr. Burns

Allison Janney as Edna Krabappel

David Schwimmer as Rev. Lovejoy

Steve Buscemi as Dr. Nick

James Earl Jones as Dr. Hibbert

Orlando Jones as Carl

Tom Arnold as Chief Wiggum

Kevin Smith as Comic Book Guy

Benicio del Toro as Snake Jailbird

Justin Long as Squeaky Voiced Teen

…and there we have it. I have missed some characters out so if you an think of anyone else leave a comment and I’ll add them to the list. Remember this is for fun and I would never want a live action version of The Simpsons…ever!

OK here are the ones you got right: Lisa, Flanders, Burns, Dr. Hibbert, Carl, Comic Book Guy, Chief Wiggum. And Steve Buscemi as Lenny. I’ll have to get back to you on who would make a better cast for the rest of them.

    Eugene Levy as Smithers?

  10. Posted March 19, 2008 at 7:19 am | Permalink

Very nice job overall, and excellent job matching the pics of the real people to the animated ones (I know it can be tough). Can’t say that I like the job with the kids too much, but some of the others are inspired (Janney, for starters). Better yet, with all the characters on The Simpsons, you could easily do a part two, part three…

Julie Kavner, why not?, playing both of Marge’s sisters (ala Patty Duke) would seem to be a possibility.

  13. Posted March 19, 2008 at 7:55 am | Permalink

i think, by character’s request, homer would have to be played by gary oldman, otherwise i love the casting.

buscemi could go either way as lenny or dr. nick, or perhaps even herman.

steve carell would have to be principal skinner. eugene levy would make a great smithers.

Right on except for Janney, Arnold, Schwimmer and Smith. And possibly Bracco, though I can see her as Marge. I’m also reluctant about Goldblum as Moe. Though a great actor, he just doesn’t seem to possess enough self-loathing, or indeed any self-loathing, to play Moe. The one thing no one can disagree with is Macy as Flanders. He was born to play that part. Though, hopefully, he’ll never get the chance. And by the way, Giamatti is pure inspiration!

Since this movie will hopefully never be made, I feel that I can make a suggestion that can never happen:
The late great Peter Boyle as Grandpa Simpson.

And by the way I had had the same casting thought about William H. Macy for Flanders years ago. Perfect choice!!!

Sasha Baron Cohen for Dr. Nick. If you’ve seen Borat, he can pick up that accent super easy.
    Gary Oldman for Homer Simpson.
    Steve Buschemi for Lenny.
Hank Azaria for Moe. No one could play him better than his own voice.
Simon Pegg as Groundskeeper Willie, or even Nick Frost for Comic Book Guy.
    Steve Carell for Reverend Lovejoy.
    Ron Perlman for Rainier Wolfcastle.
Naseeruddin Shah (Captain Nemo From League of Extraordinary Gentlemen) as Apu.

I disagree with the choices for Bart and Lisa but apart from that they’re spot on!

All of the secondary characters are perfect except for Moe who I think could be perfect as Hank Azaria. The main character don’t seem right though… Ned and Comic Book Guy are great choices!

Everybody on this list would be fine except for the actual Simpson family. I mean come on…Paul Giamatti as Homer? Maybe it’s just because I’m getting sick of him. Eh…good effort though.

Seth MacFarlane should play Homer. He seems to know the character very well.

    Dakota Fanning as Lisa!
She’s totally that little good girl.

And bart should be played by the younger Ron Howard (Opie from the griffith show)

    Homer-John Goodman
Moe-Hank Azaria, Seth Rogan, Adam Sandler
    Flanders-Bill Macy
Barney-Dustin Hoffman if he was fatter.
    Edna-Alison Janney Perfecto
    Snake-Benicio Del Toro
    Lenny-Steve Bushemi or Steve Carell
    Wiggum-Wayne Knight FOR SURE.
    Krusty-Paul Giamatti
Otto-Keanu Reeves maybe Martin Starr here.
and McLuvin would make a great Milhouse if we could only make Bart and Lisa a little older.
Lisa-Maybe Dakota Fannings little sister whatever her name is. Maybe even Dakota Fanning.
That’s all I could think of off the top of my head.
