Fox just greenlit Dollhouse, written by Joss Whedon and starring Eliza Dushku, for a seven episode order.
I love Joss Whedon. I’m a sucker for pretty much anything the man does. I purchased the Buffy Box Set in April, and spent the summer watching the entire series. I asked for the Angel Box Set for my birthday. I loyally read “The Astonishing X-Men” whenever a new issue DOES come out. So when I heard he was coming back to television, needless to say, I was excited.
A few weeks ago, it was reported that Eliza Dushku, everyone’s favorite anti-slayer, had signed a talent deal with Fox Entertainment to develop and star in a new series. When this news came out, I was pretty happy, because I’ve always loved Faith on Buffy The
Vampire Slayer…I even watched Tru Calling because I thought Eliza was a fantastic actress. After securing her new deal with Fox, she called Joss to talk about some career options, where the two accidentally came up with the idea for Dollhouse.
The show is about world of people programmed with different personalities, abilities and memories depending on their mission. After each assignment, the characters have their memories wiped clean, and are sent back to a lab, which is nicknamed “Dollhouse.” Dushku’s character, Echo, slowly begins to develop some self-awareness, which impacts her missions.
Dushku will also serve as a producer on the show, because she helped have a hand in its creation. Barring the Writer’s Strike, they hope to have the show in production by spring.
