When the Green Lantern trailer hit in November it didn’t give that ‘breakout superhero movie of 2011″ vibe which people had been expecting. We didn’t really see anything that stood out, and the unfinished visual effects (mainly the CGI suit) got a lot of stick from fans
Warner Bros. hasn’t released any new marketing materials since, which incoming President Jeff Robinov says is due to not “getting 3-D materials and marketing materials on the same schedule,” and as a result the advertising campaign “has been delayed strictly from production.” We will, however, be getting a new trailer with Thor when it is released May 6th.
Regarding the new trailer Sue Kroll, the studio’s worldwide marketing president, told The L.A Times that she was confident the reaction would be different than it was for the teaser trailer in November.
“Part of the reason the response to the first trailer was lukewarm was that the big-scale sequences weren’t ready to show, and we suffered for it,” she said. “We can’t afford to do that again.”
