Sadly Patty Jenkins is still not confirmed as director of the Wonder Woman sequel, but at this point it’s only a question of when we’re getting the official announcement.
I mean it would be very stupid of Warner Bros. to not get Patty Jenkins back for the sequel, and I don’t think they can afford to make this mistake, especially after Wonder Woman turned into the highest grossing movie of the summer in North America. If handled well imagine what the sequel could do. Oh and the date is December 13th 2019, which is sooner than I thought. Also did not expect a December release. Obviously they’re assuming Disney will stick to their May 2019 window for Star Wars: Episode IX, because if that moves to December Wonder Woman 2 is 100% getting pushed to another date. Either November 2019 or March 2020. Let’s hope that won’t happen.
So what else do we know about the sequel? Well Geoff Johns and Patty Jenkins are working on a treatment (outline of the story before someone else starts working on the screenplay) for Wonder Woman 2 (which of course won’t be the final title of the movie) and rumor has it the film might be set in the 80’s. And yes, Gal Gadot will be back as the titular hero. But don’t worry, you won’t have to wait until December 13th 2019 to see more Wonder Woman, she’ll be back later this year, November 17th, in Justice League.
