Deadline reports that the scripts for The Flash and Green Lantern 2 “will be handed into Warner Bros between Thanksgiving and Christmas.” Back in June the studio hired Green Lantern writers Greg Berlanti, Michael Green and Marc Guggenheim to begin work on the script for a sequel, and at the same time the trio were also given the task of writing The Flash.
There has been no word on who will direct or star in The Flash yet, but we will probably start to hear things next year if Warner Bros. is happy to move forward with the script. Martin Campbell may return to direct Green Lantern 2, but that will probably depend on how the first film does next June. Warner Bros. is doing a lot of preemptive work in Lanterns case, so they will be pulling out all the stops to make sure it is a success.
Last month writer Marc Guggenheim said he couldn’t comment on whether there would be some Flash/Green Lantern crossovers and cameos at some point, although he did say:
“I have all sorts of my own ideas and things I would like to see or like to do. And I’m certainly a voice in favor of cameos and Easter eggs and trying to tie the movies together,” he said. “But you really have to talk to DC about that.”
