War of the Gods release date set

freida pintoRogue Pictures has set a release date for Tarsem Singh’s 3D Greek fantasy War of Gods (or Dawn of War which is the title according to a few places). The film will be released on November 11th 2011, which currently has no major competition other than animated family movie Arthur Christmas.

War of Gods follows young warrior Theseus, who leads his men into battle with the immortal Greek gods to defeat evil elder gods of the Titans in order to save mankind. Director Tarsem Singh said the film is “a really hardcore action film done in Renaissance painting style”, so at least it will be pleasing on the eyes even if it ends up sucking.

The cast currently consists of Henry Cavill as Theseus, Freida Pinto as oracle Phaedra, Mickey Rourke as King Hyperion, Kellan Lutz as Poseidon, and filming is expected to begin next week in Montreal.

    I assume the 2001 date was a typo and that you actually meant 2011.

    Oh yes, thanks for that haha. I suppose a 2001 release date would be quite special. Not even James Cameron could pull that off :)
