Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist join forces to save New York in the first official trailer for Marvel’s The Defenders, coming to Netflix this summer.
“Marvel’s The Defenders follows Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. A quartet of singular heroes with one common goal – to save New York City. This is the story of four solitary figures, burdened with their own personal challenges, who realize they just might be stronger when teamed together.”
Of course there’s a hallway fight in this one too, after all they’ve become something of a trademark of the Marvel Netflix shows. Seeing all four (five if you look in the background during the hallway shots) fighting together, yeah, I can’t wait to watch The Defenders. And Sigourney Weaver looks great as the show’s main villain. Also since The Defenders will only be 8 episodes (instead of the usual 13), well there won’t be any time for filler, which is good since that has been a problem a few times with the previous Marvel Netflix shows. Sadly no Punisher (who will be getting his own show soon) this time around, maybe in a future season of The Defenders (not official yet, but you know it’s going to happen).
Showrunners on The Defenders were Douglas Petrie and Marco Ramirez, the same duo behind season 2 of Daredevil. Starring in the superhero show are Charlie Cox, Krysten Ritter, Mike Colter, Finn Jones, Sigourney Weaver, Rosario Dawson, Elodie Yung, Jessica Henwick, Scott Glenn, Carrie-Anne Moss, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson and many others.
All eight episodes of the show will be available on Netflix starting August 18th. Knowing myself there’s a very good chance I might finish this the day it comes out, and I bet I won’t be alone.
