Valkyrie Release Delayed… Again

Tom Cruise’s next flop, the Bryan Singer helmed Valkyrie, has been postponed by MGM again.  It was originally scheduled for release on July 27, but was pushed to an October 3 release (probably because they didn’t want it to go up against the summer blockbusters that are actually going to make money).  It has now been pushed back to President’s Day Weekend 2009 in an attempt to give the movie its “best possible box office opening”.

In layman’s terms, they were afraid it wasn’t going to make any money.  But it wasn’t up against any major new releases in October (Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist, which I’ve never even heard of, and the new Nicholas Sparks movie, Nights in Rodanthe)!  It’s new competition?  Confessions of a Shopoholic, Pink Panther 2, and The Wolfman.  I don’t think it’s going to do any better against these!  In fact, I’d say this is WORSE competition!

Good luck Tom!  Maybe you should stick to the action movies you do so well.  You know, the ones that make money.  Just a suggestion.
