Universal in talks with David Koepp to write Huntsman sequel

Snow White and the Huntsman Image According to Deadline Universal has set the ball rolling on a sequel to Snow White and the Huntsman, and they have entered discussions with David Koepp to write the script. Koepp has previously worked on the first Spider-Man movie, War of the Worlds, and Angels & Demons.

Apparently the intention is to put the project on the fast track and have Rupert Sanders return to direct it as his next feature.

Snow White and the Huntsman was eyed as a potential new franchise from the beginning, and earlier this month Universal Chief Ron Meyer told THR that while the movie doesn’t appear to lend itself into a sequel, Universal thinks it can make more movies based on the character of the Huntsman played by Chris Hemsworth. What that means for the future of Snow White (Kristen Stewart) and the Evil Queen (Charlize Theron) is unknown, but we’ll probably find out when the movie open on June 1st, 2012.

Snow White and the Huntsman focuses on the Huntsman (Hemsworth) who is hired by the evil queen (Theron) to track down her runaway stepdaughter (Stewart). After realizing the queen intends to kill Snow White, he helps her escape, and the pair go on the run. The Huntsman then helps train Snow White in order to defeat the evil queen.
