Two teaser trailers for Man of Steel

Warner Bros. unveiled some footage from Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel last weekend at ComicCon, and now the studio has released two teasers for the film which will be show before The Dark Knight Rises. One features a voice-over from Kevin Costner (who plays Jonathan Kent) and the other has Russell Crowe (Jor-El) narrating.

Footage-wise they’re both the same – starting off bleak which shots you wouldn’t expect from a Zack Snyder film (no slo-mo detected) and ending with Superman (Henry Cavill) souring through the sky.

You can watch them both below:

In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Cavill) is a young twentysomething journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond anyone’s imagination. Transported to Earth years ago from Krypton, an advanced alien planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question – Why am I here?

Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Costner), Clark soon discovers that having super abilities means making very difficult decisions. But when the world needs stability the most, it comes under attack. Will his abilities be used to maintain peace or ultimately used to divide and conquer? Clark must become the hero known as “Superman,” not only to shine as the world’s last beacon of hope but to protect the ones he loves.

Man of Steel opens on June 14th, 2013.

What do you think of these teasers? Too dark for Superman, or the right direction?

  • Super

The tone is perfect. I hope this film doesn’t have him saving cats from tree’s and smiling in a montage of ‘saving and smiling’ clips. That’s been done, being him is more complcated, there’s more to explore. This film is going to look at his lonliness and pain, that will resonate.

Why do people have such a problem with this? Film makers do this all of the time with trailers. It makes me want to see it.

  • Le Fred

I want my super hero to feel real thats why i loved so much KickAss and the Batman Trilogy i hope Nolan put his views into it because i hated Watchmen and SuckerPunch

  • Dare Devil

every thing Nolan touches is becoming Gold pure unmixed Gold

why on earth would they choose to show these and not the incredible comic con trailer instead?!?! that trailer was magnificent, even the crappy bootleg I saw was better than these.
