The marketing push for The Wolverine, which stars Hugh Jackman as the titular hero, is finally picking up momentum. First up was the 7-second Vine tweezer trailer, which director James Mangold posted on his Twitter page. Now we have full-blown US and International trailers, which are packed with plenty of action, adventure and intrigue.
Of the two trailers, the international one is far superior and offers glimpses of the Silver Samurai and Jean Grey, though it seems like the latter could be a repressed memory, so we’ll have to wait to see if she’s really back from the dead.
The trailer kicks off with an unkempt Wolverine being talked out of a bar-fight, which is an interesting contrast to his introduction in the first X-Men movie, and signifies a change in direction for the character. He’s quickly whisked away to Japan where he’s given the opportunity to live a mortal life, from then on, all hell breaks loose.
For the first time, Wolverine seems completely alone and out of his depth, which will hopefully lead to a fascinating exploration of a formerly fearsome and arrogant mutant.

The Wolverine is due for release in the US and UK on 26th July 2013.
Here’s the synopsis:
Based on the celebrated comic book arc, this epic action-adventure takes Wolverine, the most iconic character of the X-Men universe, to modern-day Japan.
Out of his depth in an unknown world he faces his ultimate nemesis in a life-or-death battle that will leave him forever changed.
Vulnerable for the first time and pushed to his physical and emotional limits, he confronts not only lethal samurai steel but also his inner struggle against his own immortality, emerging more powerful than we have ever seen him before.
Hugh Jackman will also reprise his role as Wolverine in X-Men: Days of Future Past, the Bryan Singer directed sequel to X-Men: First Class. He will be joined by Peter Dinklage, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, Ellen Page, Anna Paquin, and Shawn Ashmore.
Filming will begin in April for a July 2014 release.
